Yesterday, my family found out that my sister's live in boyfriend has lymphatic cancer. He's gone into the hospital. Much more than that isn't known yet. We don't even know what stage he in... He was fine at Christmas and then, by New Years, he was getting really really sick and started losing far far too much weight.
Jason is 26 years old.
I know that many of my friends aren't religious in any way... But I ask the ones that are, to please say a prayer to whatever god or gods you deem appropriate on his behalf. He needs all the help he can get right now. From any quarter.

A good friend of mine wants to be a writer. Not novels or frivolity really, but journalism. So he's been doing a lot of practicing. I felt the urge to post one of his pieces here, as he doesn't remember his own password for his account. It isn't very long, but it's amazing, in my opinion.

"When the ambient lights of the city hit a fresh snow it creates an effect of constant twilight. The minuscule amount of light bouncing off the snow gives everything a orange lighting as if from know where. It my favorite part about winter. As much as i hate the cold, the road conditions, the wet shoes. I love fresh snow. It coats the world, if only for a short time, in a layer of pure white that hides all the ugly things we've done to our planet.

But most of all the lighting. When there's enough pure white on the ground, Night never truly falls, but day recedes in its usual way. A sort of middle ground where neither the day walking people or the creatures of the night can truly take hold and people/creatures like me can be calm knowing that the line we walk finally has a place to thrive."
